| Self-Introduction | Images of others – people in, for example, ethnically, religiously, politically, or sexually diverse categories – are constructed and they must be analyzed because of the social power structure behind them. At the same time, however, by constructing images of others, writers could attempt to understand them. How should we interpret such representations? Based on such interests, my study aims to reveal power structure behind the perceptions of others in German literature, especially in the works of Thomas Mann, as well as to find signs of writers struggles to understand others in their images. |
